Creating a Farm by Importing Addresses

There are two methods for creating your farm. You can define your addresses by importing custom addresses as described below, or you can choose to create a targeted list.

After selecting your postcard set, you are ready to import your address list. Before you start, make sure that the source file meets the requirements. More Infoclosetriangle.gif

Important:

  • If you attempt to import more addresses than the maximum allowed (farm size + top up allowance + additional 20% for duplicates), the import will fail. This restriction is in place for performance purposes.

  • Addresses are automatically validated during the import of a custom list.

  • If there are any errors, an appropriate message displays. You can correct the error during the import process. For more information see Editing Your Imported Address.

  • When the import is successful, the farm is automatically released.

To import your address file:

  1. Access the Create New tab. How?closetriangle.gif

  2. Select Upload Custom List.

  3. On the Custom List page, enter a name for your custom list.

  4. Either enter the path and name of the import file, or browse to locate that file, and then click Upload File.

Note: Import may take a few minutes depending on the size of the file.

After the file has been successfully imported, with no data errors, your farm is automatically released and you are returned to the Market Builder page where the Summary tab has replaced the Create New tab.

  5. (Optional) View the imported address list under the Manage tab, displayed by zip code.

Tip: Addresses are mailed out in the order in which they are  imported.  For example, an import file contains 520 addresses for a farm of 400. The first 400 valid addresses are added to the farm, the next 40 are reserved for top up, the next 80 to replace duplicate or incorrect addresses, and the rest are discarded.
