Top Producer® 8i CRM: Merge Code Types

Merge codes are simple to insert into your templates, but certain rules must be followed to ensure that you get the results you are expecting. While all system merge codes are always visible from the Insert Merge Code in-line control, certain categories of merge code are only relevant and/or applicable in certain types of templates.

The following table defines the categories of merge codes available in Top Producer CRM and the places where you should (and should not) use them. The most common reason for avoiding the use of a certain type of merge field is that the data needed to populate the merge field does not exist.

Assistant
Use anywhere, in any template. Consists of the information defined in your My Account settings.
Closing Use only in correspondence templates that will be used from within Closing Records: for example, Email templates that will be used from the Email All feature of the Closing Parties tab, or Letter templates that will be used by Closing Activities.Do not use in Flyer or Presentation templates. Information used by the merge codes is defined on the Closing Info tab.
CMA Use only in CMA, Buyer and Home Market Report presentations. No other templates will contain the information necessary to define the comparable data requested.
Contact Use anywhere in any template. Will always draw information from the Contact/Lead Details Tab of the associated contact/lead record.
General Use in any template, anywhere. Contains universal information such as date and time.
Listing Use only in correspondence templates that will be used from within Listing Records: for example, Email templates that will be used from the Email All feature of the Listing Parties tab, or Letter templates that will be used by Closing Activities. Do not use in Presentation templates. Information used by the merge codes is defined on the Listing Info tab.
Property Use in any template, anywhere. When used in a correspondence template, it will draw its information from the Property Address and Property Details tabs of the associated contact’s primary property. When used in a Flyer or Presentation template, it will draw its data from the Property Address and Property Details tabs of whatever property was selected for them.
Recipient A synonym for the Contact category. Use in any template, anywhere. Will always draw information from the Contact/Lead Details Tab of the associated contact/lead record.
Team Use anywhere, in any template. Consists of the information defined in your My Account settings for teams or partnerships. If you do not have a team account, there will be no information to display.
