We’ve now released the exciting Market Snapshot changes we gave you a sneak preview of in October. You gave us some feedback and we made changes based on your suggestions. Pretty cool teamwork if I do say so myself.

If you read the sneak preview, you’ll remember we made these changes because our attention spans are shrinking… The goldfish has us beat at 9 seconds; we come in at 8. (That’s just embarrassing.)

Anyhoo, onwards and upwards. Here’s a recap of the changes…

#1) We redesigned the email template consumers receive when you send them a snapshot.

We did this for 2 main reasons. First, you’ve only got a few seconds to engage them before they hit delete, so the meaningful stats–average days on market and average sale price–are front and center. Second, chances are they’re going to view it on a 4 inch screen, so the new email is short and easy to scan.

MS consumer email

Here’s an important tidbit–you’ll only automatically start sending this new template IF you haven’t modified the old one. So to break it down, you’ll fall into one of 3 categories:

  • You haven’t modified the old template. If this is you, you’ll start sending the new beaut above.
  • You’ve modified the old template and are not keen on changing. If this is you, don’t do a thing. You’ll keep sending the old template until you choose otherwise. (Though we think the new one will get you more engagement!)
  • You’ve modified the old template, but want to use the new. If this is you, follow these steps:
    1. In Top Marketer, go to Setup > Market Snapshot Email Text Customization.
    2. Select the Email Type from the drop-down list (“Market Snapshot Ready” for the 1st email; “Market Snapshot Update Ready” for subsequent emails).
    3. Click Reset BUT keep in mind the old template won’t be available once you do!

#2) Consumers can now change the area of their Market Snapshot.

Who doesn’t like power and choice? Put both in their hands and let them set what their Market Snapshot is based on. Less work for you and they’ll enjoy the convenience and self-service.

Consumer settings

(If you’re still reading, the goldfish has nothing on you.)

#3) Lastly, we redesigned the header and footer of the Market Snapshot to be similar to its Listing Alert cousin (new listing/price change and sold alerts).

New snapshot look

In closing, there’s not much we can do about our shrinking attention spans (thanks social media). All we can do is adapt, engage and conquer… I mean convert. We hope you enjoy and don’t forget to drop a note and tell us what you think!

Write your opinion the title here
  • Andrea McIntyre

I would like to see an option to title the Market Snapshot by City name or Subdivision rather than by zip code or property address. Zip codes really do not excite a Buyer coming from outside of our area as much as seeing the name of the City they are coming to.
For the snapshots targeted to the seller, I have found that my clients think that the summary bar at the top is providing a value specific to their property because the report is titled with their address. Having the subdivision name as the title of the report will direct them to the understanding that the report is targeting statistics in their specific area. This thus entices them to contact me if they want a market analysis specific to their home.

Good suggestion, Andrea! I’ve forwarded it to our Product group for review. I’ll keep you posted of any updates here. Thanks!

Have you fixed the glitch yet where none of the contingent or under contract listings show up for the Maryland (MRIS) listings? If this were fixed Market Snapshot would be perfect.

    • crodgers

Hi Jim, as you know from the email I sent, contingent/under contract listings are appearing for MRIS. This applies to new Market Snapshots you create—not existing snapshots.

Rock on, I feel this new format is simpler, more ascetically pleasing, and modern. Thumbs up.

Also thumbs up to whoever write these email updates. Fun style:

Well you just made my day. :) Thanks for the feedback–it’s awesome to hear we’re getting it right!

But what about LISTING ALERTS? They have NOT been working EVER for CRMLS.

    • crodgers

Good news, George! We’re hoping to have Listing Alerts working for CRMLS very soon (hopefully in the next couple of days).

  • Robert Kroon

I support the new format enthusiastically ! You are absolutely correct, SHORT ATTENTION SPAN — WHY SHOULD i READ THIS FIRST — NOT DELETE IT WITHOUT READING

Thanks you for the updates! It is so important for prospective clients to click to the Market Snapshot once they have received the initial email!

I would like to make one request for future updates…… I would love to see active listings that have multiple pictures able to be seen within the snapshot under details.

Thanks so much and keep up the great changes!

    • crodgers

Thanks Joey, we’re glad you like. And yes, we are working on showing more pictures in the snapshot! I’ll keep you posted here.

  • JoMarie ARMILIO
