Creating a Community and School Report

A community and school report is a great presentation to give your prospective buyers at open houses and showings. It includes detailed demographic, school, employment, housing, climate, and amenities information for communities across the U.S. Top Producer also allows you to retrieve information that statistically compares the quality of life for the listing area against any other areas you decide on.

In order to create the report you must first select a template from the Presentation Library. Hover your mouse cursor over your selected template and click the Create for Contact link. The Create Presentation wizard guides you through the steps needed to create and publish a community and school report.

  1. Select Template Step
Because you clicked the Create for Contact link from a template, the template is already selected. Click the Next button to go to the next step.
  2. Select Recipient Step
Use the Contacts Look-up tool to the right to drag and drop a contact into the specified area. Click the Next button to go to the next step.
  3. Communities Step
The third step of creating the community and school report is selecting the zip code of the community you’d like to create the report for. You can also select a zip code for another community to display a community comparison. If you don’t enter a comparison zip, the community is compared against the entire state on different pages in the report. If you don’t know the zip code you want to use, you can seach for zips by clicking the Zip Look-up link to open the Zip Look-up tool.

    8i Create Community Report

    1. Select the state and city and click the Look-Up Zips button.
    2. A list of zips matching your state and city criteria opens. Click on a zip to highlight it and click the Select Zip button to add it to the Target Community Zip or Comparison Zip field.
    3. To create a list of amenities for your chosen zips, click the Verify Community Zip(s) button.
    4. Before you select the amenities to include in the report, decide on the radius of your search. For example, if you want to include amenities within a 3 mile radius of the zip code, change the Include amenities within drop-down list to “3 miles.” The system will re-verify the zips and return amenities within the new radius.
    5. Click on a segment to open a list of amenities below. From the list of amenities, place a check mark next to the ones you want to include in the report. Amenity categories include shopping and groceries, public services, schools, places of worship, recreation and leisure, and food and drink.

    6. Note: Checking the Save selections as my default check box saves your selected amenities to be used for all other community and school reports you create.

    7. The final piece of information to add to the report is a map view of the selected zip code area. Choose one of the map option buttons, then click the Next button to continue to step 4.
  4. Select Schools Step
  5. Place a check mark next to the schools you’d like to appear in the report. Use the Show drop-down list to change the list of schools you see based on a certain distance. Once you’ve made your selections, click the Create Presentationbutton.

Note: You can only select 3 schools for the report. If you try to select more a pop-up message opens asking you to choose only 3.

  6. View Presentation Step
The View Presentation page allows you to view the report pages and make any final changes. When you’re satisfied with the look and content of your presentation, click the Print or Save as button to open the presentation on a separate Internet browser tab. From here you can print the presentation using the Print 8i Create Community Report icon or save it in PDF format to your local hard drive using the PDF 8i Create Community Reporticon. Close the tab once you’re finished with the preview.

To publish and email the report to your contact, click the Email Presentation button. Top Producer publishes the report to the Web and creates a new email message with the email address, subject, and body already created. You can edit the email and click the Preview button to see what the email will look like. Once you’ve finished editing the email, click the Send Emailbutton to send the link to the published report to the contact.

Note: Top Producer gives you the flexibility to create standalone school reports and community reports. These reports typically include more detailed information than the community and school report.
