Creating a Lead
If you’re not pulling in leads from outside sources such as a Website or Market Snapshot, you can add leads manually into Top Producer 8i. Even if you have only basic lead information, we still recommend saving the lead in 8i. You can always go back and edit the record once you have more information.
Creating a Lead
- Go to the Contacts main menu icon and click Add Lead to open the Add Lead form.
You’ll notice that the information you add is very similar to when you’re creating a new contact.
- Type in the lead’s name and a way he or she can be contacted.
- From the Lead Management segment, you can specify the lead type, from where the lead came. If the lead didn’t come from any of the sources in the drop-down list, click the Addlink to add another source.
Providing information for the Lead Qualification fields (Ready to Transact, Interest Level, Financing Approved) enables 8i to automatically assign a hot, warm or cold value to the lead to indicate how close the lead is to buying or selling a home. The quality of a single lead appears in the Lead Record header.- Ready to Transact: Select a date range that best describes when the lead will buy or sell their home.
- Interest Level: Select an interest level, ranging from 1 to 5, based upon your impression of how enthusiastic they are about buying or selling their home.
- Financing Approved: Select whether their financing has been accepted.
It also combines with indicators from other leads to form a pie chart displaying the lead quality percentages appearing in the Leads portlet on the Dashboard.

- If the lead is a potential buyer, fill in as much information as you can in the Buyer Preferences segment, such as price range, house style, square footage, and number of rooms. If the lead is a potential seller, fill in as much address information as you can in the Primary Property segment. If the lead is a buyer and a seller, add information in both segments.
- When you’ve added all the lead information, click the Add Lead button to save the lead, or the Save & Add More Details button to save the lead and add more details on the Lead Details form. To save the current lead and create another, click the Save & Add Another button.
