Newsletter Subscriber Report

The Newsletter Subscriber Report provides a summary of your newsletter subscribers, listing their status, name and subscription dates. This is also where you can manually add subscribers, import a contact list, and re-send confirmation emails.

To view this information, go to the Newsletter menu and select Newsletter Subscriber Report.

You can manually unsubscribe someone by clicking the Stop Subscribing Icon Stop Subscription, or delete the subscriber by clicking the Delete Subscriber icon Delete Subscriber. Note that deleting a subscriber will permanently remove them from your Top Marketer database.

Adding or Editing a Subscriber

Each subscriber is identified and tracked in Top Marketer by their unique email address. To add a new subscriber, click the Add/Edit Subscriber link at the bottom. Enter the subscriber's name and email address, then click Save Subscriber. They will be sent a confirmation email, and be asked to click a link to confirm their subscription.

You can also edit the First Name and Last Name of an existing subscriber. To edit an existing subscriber, click the Add/Edit Subscriber link. Enter their existing email address exactly as it appears in the Newsletter Subscribers list, then enter the correct name and click Save Subscriber.

Tip: If you need to change the email address of an existing subscriber, first add them as a new subscriber (entering their name and correct email address) to create a new entry for them. Then delete their previous entry in the subscriber list. They will be sent an Initial Invitation email to confirm their subscription at the new email address.

Importing Subscribers from a CSV File

If you have a large number of contacts that you would like to add as Newsletter Subscribers, you can import them from a CSV file. A CSV file (comma separated values) is a standard file format that can be created and edited by spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel.

The data in the CSV file must be formatted in a very specific way, and the data must adhere to strict rules, otherwise the import will not succeed.

  1. There can only be three columns of data, in the order of First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
  2. The first row must be a header row, containing these exact headers: First Name, Last Name, and Email.
  3. Each contact (subscriber) entry must be on its own row, and you cannot add more than one email address per contact.
  4. First and Last names have a maximum of 64 characters.
  5. Email address has a maximum of 256 characters.
  6. Each row of data must have information in all three columns (IE: each must have a First Name, Last Name, and Email Address, each in their respective column).
  7. The maximum number of contacts (subscribers) you can import is 1000.
  8. The maximum files size for the CSV is 1.5MB.

To import a CSV file, click the CSV Import link at the bottom.

Click the Browse button, locate and select the CSV file on your computer, then click Open. Click Import CSV File to import the data. The contact information will be added to the Newsletter Subscriber Report list and each subscriber will be sent a confirmation email.

Adding Subscribers from the Inquiry report

You can also add subscribers to the list that already exist in your Inquiry Report. These are leads that have previously subscribed to Market Snapshot or that have been received as a Complimentary Lead from an affiliated website.

To add subscribers from the Inquiry Report, click the Add from Inquiry Report link at the bottom.

In the list that appears, place a check next to each lead you would like to add and then click Add Selected Inquiries. If you have a large list of inquiries, you can use the fields at the top to filter the list to display only the leads you are looking for.

Tip: If you would like to add everyone in the list, click the Add All Inquiries link at the top right.

Re-Sending the Confirmation Email

When you manually add someone to the subscriber list, they will be sent an email requesting that they confirm their subscription to the newsletter. If they have not yet confirmed their subscription, their status in the Newsletter Subscriber Report will be Waiting, and you will have the option to re-send their confirmation email. This is useful if they have not confirmed their subscription after a few days. The text used in these emails is configured in the Newsletter Email Text Customization section.

To re-send the confirmation email, place a check in the box to the left of their name and click the Re-Send Confirmation Email link at the bottom.
