MLS Setup

When you subscribed to your Top Marketer Product (Market Snapshot, Market Builder or Just Listed Postcards), you specified the MLS(s) to which you have access. When Top Marketer generates content, it makes a secure connection directly to your MLS to retrieve the necessary data. You must give Top Marketer access to your MLS by entering your MLS Username and MLS Password in the fields provided.

MLS Setup

The Agent MLS ID field is used to locate your MLS listings when generating Just Listed/Sold Postcards. Market Snapshot and Market Builder do not require your Agent MLS ID. When you have entered your MLS Username and Password and click Next or Save & Close, Top Marketer will validate your MLS credentials. You will receive a warning if the connection fails.

There are some important points to keep in mind about setting up Top Marketer to access your MLS:

Password Changes: To enhance security, many MLS’s require that you periodically change your password. If you change your MLS password, you must also update the MLS password in Top Marketer. Otherwise, Top Marketer will not be able to establish a connection to retrieve MLS data. This means that Market Snapshots cannot be created or sent, and Just Listed/Sold Postcards cannot be generated.

Capitalization of Passwords: In some instances, it is necessary to enter your MLS Password as all capital letters, regardless of how you normally type your password when logging in to your MLS website. Top Marketer accesses your MLS database through a different method than you do, and that method may require the password be in all capitals.

Security Keys (Tokens): Some MLS websites require three authentication credentials for you to log in: A username, a password, and a rotating security key or token. Top Marketer does not make use of the rotating security key or token, so do not enter it in any of the fields.

RETS Activation: Some MLS’s require that a special request be submitted to allow third party products, such as Top Marketer, to use your MLS credentials to connect to their database. If Top Marketer cannot validate your MLS credentials (and you have checked for Capitalization and Tokens), it is possible your MLS requires a RETS Activation to grant Top Marketer access to the data. Multiple MLS’s

If you have access to multiple MLS’s and included them when you subscribed to Top Marketer, the MLS Setup section will display each MLS separately. You must specify which is the default MLS under the Default column, next to the desired MLS.

You can specify which MLS should be used for each area you serve within the Area Management section of the Top Marketer Setup Wizard. If a particular area is not specified within Area Management, Top Marketer will use the Default MLS. For more information about Area Management, click here.
