8i Updates and Releases - May 6th 2010

We are continually improving Top Producer 8i with new features, enhancements, and updates. This upcoming release focuses on those issues that you reported to us, the seamless integration of Social Media features, as well as major optimizations in the contact record.

What is a Contact?

What's New in this Update?

Contact Record Header

Significant changes have been made to the Contact Record Header. Its appearance and functionality have been streamlined to make it easier to get the information you need and perform your most important tasks - without cluttering up the page!

The Contact Record Header

The main header area contains a summary of information, and you can see the most important contact information by clicking the contact-info-icon icon next to the name. There is also the Contact Status Indicator (which you can now click on to manually set the Status!), and the Buyer Preferences/Primary Property box. The area on the right contains a list of actions you can perform, the ability to print reports, and the Things to Talk About feature.

Contact Record - Summary Tab

The Summary Tab is a new feature added to the Contact Record to help you quickly get the information you need and perform the tasks you want, all from one page.

Most noticeably, the Summary Tab now contains your Contact Notes. You'll also find the Next Call/Appointment and Incomplete/Complete Activities box, giving you a quick overview of upcoming activities for this contact. The Contact Information Section lets you see the most important contact info at a glance, and the Social Media Activity box can be configured to receive this contact's Facebook and Twitter updates, so you'll know what's going on in the lives of your contacts!

Social Media Integration

8i now allows for integration with your Facebook and Twitter account! After Setting Up Social Media Integration, you'll have access to three new features:

At the top right of every 8i page is the new Facebook/Twitter Icon facebook-twitter-icon. Clicking the icon allows you to compose and post an update to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, all without having to open another browser! You can use this to quickly keep your social media network informed about recent events, marketing messages, listings and closings, or anything else you want!

With the new Social Media Activity feature you can now receive your contact's Facebook and Twitter updates directly from within the Summary Tab of every Contact Record. You can also quickly reply to their posts, or retweet their message. You can receive anyone's Twitter updates. To receive Facebook updates, they must be in your Facebook Friends list.

Encouraging people to join your social media network is key to promoting your online success. 8i now provides the ability to easily add branded links in your Email Signature that will direct people to your Facebook Profile, Facebook Fan Page, and Twitter Profile. If you include this signature as part of your 8i emails, every email you send is also an invitation to join your network!

Things to Talk About

things-to-talk-aboutThings to Talk About still provides the same listing search features that it always has - but now it has one more feature:

You can now search for listings based on Buyer Preferences, or your own criteria!

When you click Things to Talk About in a Contact Record, it will search for listings based upon the properties in the contact record. Clicking Refine Search will display a screen where you can enter specific search criteria!

Quick Access - External Links

external-links-listThe Quick Access button quick-access-link at the top of every 8i page includes not only the ability to quickly add contacts, leads, and activities, but you can now add a list of custom links to external websites. Think of it like a Bookmarks list that travels with you, no matter which computer you use.

It comes pre-loaded with links to 8i Support Resources, and you can always add new categories and links! Include links to your commonly used sites, like your MLS, personal website, Realtor.com pages, and your Social Media accounts.

Other Enhancements

  • The Summary Tab in a contact record is now the Default Tab. That means it will be displayed as soon as you open a Contact Record - unless you have specified another tab to appear. Also, if you had previously set the Notes tab to appear, the Summary Tab will appear instead, since Notes are now contained within that tab. You can choose which tab appears from within your 8i Preferences, in the General Preferences section.
  • It is now possible to set the Lead Quality Tab to appear by default inside the Leads portlet on your 8i Dashboard (Home Page). This can be set in your 8i Preferences, in the General Preferences section.

Market Snapshot Summary and Notifications

If you subscribe to both Top Producer 8i and Market Snapshot, two new features are available to help you easily track your Snapshot activity from within 8i. The Summary Tab in Contact and Lead Records now includes the Market Snapshot Summary section, which provides an overview of recent Snapshot activity - including the number of Snapshots send and viewed.

There is also a new tab available called Notifications, which displays a list of Snapshot Events for this record. Every time a new event is generated, such as when a Snapshot is sent or viewed, a new notification will appear in this section. Please note that these two features will only appear if a Snapshot event has occured for the Contact or Lead after this update came into effect.
