Editing your Profile

Your profile contains information about you, as well as some personal options related to using your Featured Blog. From here, you can also change your password, turn on keyboard shortcuts, change the color scheme of your Featured Blog administration screens, and turn off the Visual editor, among other things.

Accessing Your Profile

To edit your profile:

  1. On the side menu, if necessary, expand the Users section.
  2. On the side menu, in the Users section, click the Your Profile link.

The Profile Screen

The Profile screen is divided into different sections, with various fields that can be edited.

  1. Personal Options: Contains options for when you are working on the blog administration. You can choose to use the Visual Editor when writing articles, select a color scheme for the administration screens, and choose whether to enable keyboard shortcuts for comment moderation.

  2. Name: Contains the following information, most of which can be edited as desired:

    1. Username: You cannot edit your username because it is used as your Username during the login process. The Username can not be changed, even by an Administrator.
    2. First/Last name: Your first and last name are automatically filled in when your blog account is created. These fields can be edited.
    3. Nickname: You can choose to display your nickname as the author of your blog posts. By default your Username will be placed in this field, but can be changed.
    4. Display name publicly as: Use this dropdown to select how your name is cited on your blog posts.
  3. Contact Info: Contains information that you can insert into your blog posts so your visitors can reach you in various ways. The following fields are included:

    1. E-mail: All users are required to list an email address in their profile. This field is populated automatically when your blog account is created. You'll receive new comments and administrative notifications at this address. Only registered users of your blog will have access to this email address.
    2. Website: Edit your website address. This is intended to be the address of your business website - rather than your blog address.
    3. AIM: Enter your AIM screen name here.
    4. Yahoo IM: Enter your Yahoo Messenger ID here.
    5. Jabber / Google Talk: Enter your Jabber / Google Talk name here.
  4. About Yourself: In the Biographical Info box, enter a short description of yourself. This optional information can be displayed by your theme if configured.

  5. New Password: You can change your password by entering in each of the two text boxes. Leaving these text boxes blank will keep the password you are currently using.

    Note: The Strength Indicator indicates if the password you entered is Very Weak, Weak, Medium, or Strong (displayed in green). The stronger the password the more secure your login.

  6. Your Photo: Click the Browse button and select an image file to use as your photo. This will appear in the Agent Info widget on the sidebar of your blog.

  7. Update Profile: Click the Update Profile button to save your changes.
