Internet Browser Settings Are Incorrect Error Message

You may receive this error when you try to login to Top Producer 7i. If you receive a message stating that your browser settings are incorrect, it means the Sun version of Java is enabled on your web browser, not the required Microsoft version of Java.

If you are using Windows Vista, click here for steps specific to your operating system.

The Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is a software interface that allows internet applications such as Top Producer 7i to operate on and communicate with your computer’s hardware and operating system.

Important!
Please ensure you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you are, continue to the Disable Sun Java via the Advanced Internet Options section below.

If you are using a different browser (Netscape, Opera, AOL/Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, etc.), you will need to use Internet Explorer to access Top Producer 7i. To open Internet Explorer:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Internet Explorer.
  2. Go to www.topproduceronline.com and login as normal.

If you login via Internet Explorer and still see the message "your browser settings are incorrect", then you must change your Java settings. Please follow the steps below.

Disable Sun Java Via The Advanced Internet Options

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. On the Internet Explorer menu bar, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Scroll down the list of features until you see "Java (Sun)" (the name may vary slightly).

Note: If you do not see the “Java (Sun)” section, please skip to Disable Sun Java from Control Panel section below.

  1. Ensure that there is no check mark in the box that reads Use Java 2 v1.4.2_01 for < applet > (requires restart). (see the example below – your version number may be different from the one shown below)

Placement will vary based on the version, but look for a button or tab marked About and click it. The Sun Java version displays.

If the version is 1.6.0 or above, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Advanced tab of the Java Control Panel window.
  2. Expand (click the plus sign beside) Default Java for browsers.
  3. Uncheck the box beside Microsoft Internet Explorer.
