Installing and configuring the Top Producer Outlook Connector (TPOC)
These instructions will walk you through the process of installing and configuring
the TPOC. For more details on how the TPOC is used, please click here.
A new user of the TPOC will need to perform the following steps in the following
order to properly configure the product after purchase:
- Login to Top Producer 7i. Point to Setup, then click on
Agent setup. Scroll to the bottom of the Agent setup window and check the
Top Producer Outlook Connector checkbox as shown in the image below,
then click Ok to confirm the selection.
- Point to Setup, then click Data
services setup. Click Add data service on the left side
of the window. The pop-up below will appear:
Select Top Producer Outlook Connector from the Select a third-party
application drop-down menu. Enter a Security key in
the right hand field. The security key can be any combination of letters and numbers
that you wish, but make sure you take note of what is entered, as it will be required
in a later step.
- Point to Setup, then Applications
setup, then click on Top Producer Outlook Connector. Check
the I want to use Microsoft Outlook to compose personal email messages
checkbox as shown in the image below:
Note: If the user is configured to use an @topproducer.com
email address, take note of the username and password listed below for use in step
4 of the Configuring Outlook to check an @topproducer.com email account
section below. If the user is configured to use POP3 email or is not using My email,
these fields will be blank and can be ignored.
- Click on the Download the TOP PRODUCER Outlook Connector
plugin link. When prompted by the File Download window, choose to Save the Top Producer
Outlook Connector.exe file. Select a location for the file and then click Save.
- IMPORTANT: Close any running Microsoft Office applications
(Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and then open the file that was saved in the previous
step. Once all MS Office applications are closed, open the Top Producer Outlook
Connector.exe file.
- Folow the prompts to complete the installation. Once the install is finished, open Microsoft Outlook again. Click on Tools in the menu bar at the top of the window, then click on Options. there will be a new Top Producer tab, as displayed in the image below:
Enter your Top Producer 7i username in the top field, then enter the security key that was chosen in step 2 above into the appropriate field. Click Apply, and then click Ok.
Configuring Outlook to check an @topproducer.com email account
In order to have Microsoft Outlook check your @topproducer.com account, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Outlook. Click on Tools
in the menu bar across the top of the window, then click on Email Accounts...
- Choose to create a new account and click Next.
- Select Pop3 and click Next.
The following window will be displayed:

- Fill this window out according to the following criteria:

| Your name:

User's proper name. IE: John Smith

| E-Mail Address:
|
The "reply to:" address you wish recipients to see.

| Server Information
|
| Incoming Mail Server (POP3):
|
mail.topproducer.com
|
| Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
|
smtp.topproducer.com
|
| Logon information
|
| User Name:
|
The user's @topproducer.com email address, as obtained in step 3 of Installing and configuring the TPOC, above.
|
| Password:
|
The user's @topproducer.com email password, as obtained in step 3 of Installing and configuring the TPOC, above.
|
- Once you have completed filling out the fields on this window, then click the More Settings... button.
- Select the Outgoing Server tab.
- Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox and confirm that the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button is selected.
- Click OK.
- Click Next , and then click Finish.
